2nd day of Lent

Read Psalm 37

Trust in the Lord

Trust in the Lord and do good;

rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him;

depart from evil and do good;

and dwell forevermore.

~verse 3

When our daughter, Linda, became ill a few years ago, our family had no idea of the magnitude of her illness. We were told she needed a heart transplant. She wasn't even 40 years old. How could this be happening? Linda was a good person, always doing things for others and giving of herself. We were all overwhelmed with shock and grief and fear.

How blessed we were to be Christians. We prayed and prayed, and put our trust in the Lord. I remember praying one morning for the Lord to please bring her a new heart and healing, and it hit me that as I prayed for this gift, another family would suffer a great loss. Someone had to die so that she could live. I felt so guilty. From then on I prayed for both our families.

Linda always knew she would be ok, no matter what. She had such great faith and trust in the Lord. We are blessed to have had her as long as we did.

I know the Lord was with our family all the way, even when He sent his Angels to bring my husband Merrill home to Him just two days before He sent them for Linda. How loving of our Lord to have Linda's dad waiting for her.

Trust in the Lord and you will find peace.

Prayer: Dear Lord, help us to place our trust in You. Help us to do good things, be good neighbors and friends, and love our family with all our hearts, so that we might be worthy of your love and trust. Show us the way to be thankful for our many blessings and not be envious of others. Deliver us from evil, through Jesus Christ. Amen.
